Three of On Line’s apprentices have recently completed their Design & Draughting Apprenticeship, having been with the company for the past 3 years. They spent the first year at the CATCH training facility in Stallingborough gaining practical “hands on” engineering skills in addition to CAD Draughting skills. Following the first year they spent a year rotating around On Line’s 3 offices and various sections before being given the opportunity to decide which engineering discipline they wanted to follow.

All 3 apprentices chose to follow a career in Mechanical Engineering, with a view to becoming Piping Designers, and have been studying for an HNC in Mechanical Engineering, and hope to progress onto either HND or Degree qualifications. Ethan who is currently based in the Manby Road office working as a junior Piping Draughtsman is a Grimsby Town season ticket holder, and in addition to watching and playing football he also likes to watch American football. He also likes to go camping and walking with his friends and girlfriend Lucy.

20 year old Keiran is currently on secondment to the Total LOR site drawing office where he has been providing support to Senior Engineers during the recent refinery shutdown. He is a member of Grimsby Rugby Club where he has played for 10 years, and he enjoys travel and socialising with friends and family.

Chris, is aged 21 and is currently based at On Line Design’s Hessle office working with Neil Tock in the Piping/Mechanical section. Chris echoed the words of all the other apprentices by saying “I’m grateful to everyone in the company who has shared their experience and knowledge with me.” Outside of work Chris enjoys going to music festivals, camping and walking.

Piping Draughtsman Callum Smith and his partner Laura became the proud parents of a baby boy on Saturday 29th October 2016. They have decided to call their beautiful baby Hayden James Smith.

Hayden James was born at 5:16pm at the Grimsby Maternity ward weighing 8Ib 9oz after going over the due date by 2 weeks. Callum nearly missed the birth through being stuck in traffic and having difficulty accessing the ward because of locked doors, but he managed to be there for the birth with only 16 minutes to spare. Callum and Laura also have a 4 year old year daughter called Leigha Rose who can be seen in the photograph proudly showing off her little brother. There is only 5 days between Leigha’s and Hayden’s birthdays so it will be a very busy (and expensive) time of the year for Callum and Laura.

Callum said, “I am very pleased to finally have a son and a daughter. We didn’t know the sex of either of the children during pregnancy as we wanted a surprise both times. It is a nice way to complete our family and we hope to have both children accompany us down the aisle at our wedding which is planned for July 2017.”

On Line Design would like to wish them all well.
