Andrew set to pound the pavements of Paris
On Sunday 14th April, Deputy IT Manager Andrew Hobley, 42, will be taking part in his 5th Marathon.
The Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris is one of the biggest marathons in the world, seeing nearly 55,000 competitors from 145 different countries come together to tackle what is probably one of the most fabled, and prestigious races over the legendary 26.2 miles.
The athletes will pound the pavements of the French capital's most famous avenues and plazas, from the foot of the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs-Elysees, where they take the start, towards the Place de la Concorde. From the Rue de Rivoli they'll then sweep through the Place de la Bastille. After a glimpse of greenery in the Bois de Vincennes, views of Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower then point the way home.
Andrew who lives in Scunthorpe, has built his Marathon training into the initial phase of this year’s Iron Man training, to help him get ready for Vichy in August later this year. He has been swimming twice a week and running 3 times with additional indoor cycling sessions on his turbo trainer. He’s kept his long runs to the weekends and managed to get his mileage up to 21 miles. Whilst he doesn’t really have a time goal for the Marathon, he ideally would like to finish inside 3h 50min.
Andrew said, “I’ve enjoyed the training this year, having a target race helps to keep me motivated to put the training hours in. My wife and daughter, Claire and Freya are coming along to support me on the day and will hopefully have time to see some of Paris whist I’m running and throughout the weekend we’re away.
On Line Group would like to wish Andrew good luck in Paris!
