Paul’s Fundraising for Charity
On Line’s Paul Dewland is delighted to be running 26.2 miles in the London Marathon on Sunday 22nd April 2018 in support of the Charity 'Children with Cancer UK'.
39-year-old Paul, joined the Company in January as the Health, Safety and Environment Officer. Paul is running not only to raise money for this worthwhile charity but to also raise awareness of childhood cancer to protect more children and improve the lives of young cancer patients, today and for future generations.
4,000 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year, and Children with Cancer UK is the leading national children's charity dedicated to the fight against childhood cancer.
Paul has pledged to raise £2,500, enough to fund MRI scans for four patients taking part in a project developing advanced scanning techniques to identify high-risk tumour sub-types.
Paul is no stranger to running for charity, having previously taken part in the Great North Run in 2008 for Yorkshire Cancer, and 2009 for Kidney Research UK. He has also previously run in the London Marathon in 2010 for Cancer Research UK, in 2011 for Cancer Research UK and again last year, for Children with Cancer UK. In total Paul has raised more than a staggering £11,500 for several Charities.
Paul said, “Training has been difficult (especially running in the 'Beast from the East'!) and the next few days will be about focussing my attention on Sunday 22nd April when it is predicted to be a very warm 19-21 degrees, which will be very challenging, but your support and generosity will motivate me to continue, especially through the aches, pains, blisters and heat stress!”
